<![CDATA[Anne Bowes, Catherine Zoraida and Seretta in the My Flash Trash Offices! ]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/jewellerchat/ Earlier this week we had a few of our lovely designers down for a meet and green in the offices. We caught up with them about upcoming ranges, the trends they love and what can be expected of them from next season.

(L-R) Seretta, Anne Bowes and Catherine Zorida

Anne Bowes, wearing a Turquoise Necklace with a Vintage Gold Heart Charm and a Vintage Enamel Forget Me Not Pendant (get the look) told us about her Jubilee collection. The Anne Bowes Jubilee collection (link) has just launched exclusively on My Flash Trash and comprises of patriotic charms, bracelets and necklaces in Anne’s signature kitsch style. Anne told us about how she sources her charms and bracelets through markets, online and the rare commission. The beauty of her methods of designing is that the majority of her collection is limited edition, with some being completely unique. Anne is currently working on a top secret new collection, all limited edition and very, very exciting.

Anne Bowes

Seretta also joined us in the office, and amused us with stories of her little girls friends all clamouring to play in her jewellery studio. Designers say inspiration comes from strange places and perhaps Seretta is making the most of her five year olds ideas? Seretta told us about her A/W collection which she is currently working on. Inspired by The Great Gatsby (coincidentily being remade featuring Leonardo de Caprio and Carey Mulligan for release this summer) Seretta is working with darker stones to reflect the season, making long necklaces that can be wrapped around or worn long. Seretta showed us a preview of one of these necklaces which she was wearing that day, along with a Black Agate and Silver Bracelet and her Black Onyx Bracelet

Soretta

Our chat turned to an in depth discussion about the composition of metals and the jewellers studio spaces, we were way out of our depth but it was fascinating to hear women so knowledgeable in their chosen field. Catherine Zoraida told us about how she finds inspiration from her travels. Having lived in places from South America to Scotland her collection reflects her wide interests. That day she was wearing her Lychee necklace that she moulded from a lychee skin in her studio. She prides herself on being affordable luxury, choosing to plate sterling silver with 18 karat gold to keep the price down. Catherine was also wearing her rose thorn cuff and leaf pendant (links) which worked beautifully together. There is a touch of nostalgia with her pieces due to the links to her travels. The Conch cuff was moulded from a conch that she found on a beach in South America. That she can wear a gold version of that very conch she found is a beautiful idea.

<![CDATA[Fash Diary at Flash Trash ]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/fashdiaryflashtrash/ Flashtrash meets fashdiary

We were happy to have myfashdiary.com’s founder Tala, in the MFT office this week, to take a look at our jewellery and borrow some bits and bobs for her blog- which boasts a huge international following.

Although she’s busy with her last few weeks at uni she had time to pop by for a browse of our showroom and a chit chat.

Tala is certainly a force to be reckoned with, at 21 years old she is the current face of Sephora in the UAE has a huge audience from all corners of the globe and plenty of internships under her belt; She tells us her blog myfashdiary.com was established three years ago, as a sort of style diary.

Her audience boasts a huge range of women, mainly in the middle east, she is clearly a role model for young women in the middle east, “girls as young as 14 and women as old as 33 come to events and follow my blog,” according to Tala she features what she likes to wear, so her taste and blog appeals.

“Myfashdiary.com is a celebration of what I love in Fashion, Beauty, Travel & Food. You won’t be seeing anything negative because I don’t blog about something I don’t genuinely love.”

We invited Tala to view our showroom here at MFT hq and gave her a sneak preview of the designer we are launching today – Lark

Tala explained she spends half her time in the UK and half of her time in Dubai this explains her popularity amongst women all over the world. Being a columnist for the Huffington Post as well as The Mall of the Emirates' style ambassador, it is clear Ms. Samman is making an impact internationally, as well as being in her final weeks to graduate from University; there is no doubt that Tala is an ideal role model for the contemporary woman, not just in the middle east, but worldwide. Visit her personal fashion diary,www.myfashdiary.com where she personally posts style tips, outfits and interests personally several times a day.

<![CDATA[Timeless Fashion ]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/timeless-fashion/ Just as the seasons constantly change, trends and styles are always updating themselves. The industry has a desire to churn out new things every season, in the hope of sparking a new breakthrough trend or classic that can exceed the rest and become a piece that remains iconic for years and years.

One facet of the fashion world that you can always count on to remain classic, essential and in demand is a good accessory that finished of an ensemble and polishes it to perfection. This item may be a classic bag, such as the Chanel 2.55 or the Mulberry Bayswater or it could be an item of jewellery that is instantly recognized and appreciated such as the Cartier Love bracelet or a Harry Winston ring. So, with this in mind the most appreciated items are always the longstanding ones, which never go out of trend and never fail to complete a look.

A good piece of jewellery is therefore something everyone can invest in and wear with the fact in mind that it will always override any changes in trends, styles and time. My Flash Trash covets the best selection of jewellery from the most up and coming designers out there, to ensure that any piece you buy will always remain wearable, iconic and appreciated. Take Catherine Zoraida’s beautiful range of necklaces and earrings; by working with a medium that is classic and using her unique eye for items to cast she creates elegant jewellery with a modern twist. These pieces will remain constant and continuously wearable, year after year.

<![CDATA[DIY Sugar Lip Scrub]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/diy-sugar-lip-scrub/ This week we’re loving this DIY Sugar Lip Scrub tutorial from a favourite blog of ours, Honestly WTF. Beauty expert Sarah Howard, of Beauty Banter, who is indulging us with her delectable brown sugar lip scrub tutorial. Inspired by one of her favorite lip polishes, Sarah recently discovered how simple it was to make her own organic version at home.

You’ll need:

  • pure coconut oil
  • honey
  • brown sugar
  • a teaspoon
  • a tablespoon
  • a mixing bowl
  • an empty jar or 2.5 oz baby food jar
  • labels (optional)

Make sure that the coconut oil is solid enough to scoop up but soft enough for a spoon to dig in. If the coconut oil is too oily, stick it in the fridge for 10-20 minutes. If the coconut oil is too hard, place it into a sink filled with hot water for 5-10 minutes or until soft.

Combine one well-rounded tablespoon of coconut oil with one tablespoon of honey into the bowl.

QUICK FACT: Besides smelling and tasting incredible, coconut oil is actually an amazing natural ingredient for skin and body products. The oil contains fatty acids and antioxidants that moisturize and nourish the skin while honey contains cleansing and healing properties and is a natural binder.

Mix the coconut oil and honey until they bind together. The consistency should look like thick honey-comb honey. Make sure to mash up all of the coconut lumps so that the mixture is clump-free. This will serve as the base of the scrub.

Add two hand packed teaspoons of brown sugar and fold it into the base. Brown sugar not only tastes fantastic, it is also a great natural exfoliant because it’s not too harsh and leaves skin soft to the touch. All of the brown sugar should be coated in the coconut oil and honey base.

Add one teaspoon of just the oil from coconut oil jar into the bowl. This will help smooth out the mixture and make the scrub extra moisturizing. Transfer the scrub from the bowl into a small jar or container.

The edible scrub will last up to 2 weeks if refrigerated. Before using, allow the scrub to stand at room temperature for a good 10 minutes so that the formula softens a bit. Apply scrub to lips in small, circular motions for 1-2 minutes and rinse off with a warm washcloth.

Congratulations – you are now armed with a soft, moisturized, and plump pout.

Perfect for Summer... Pucker up!

xx

<![CDATA[Brad & Angelina are Engaged!]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/bradengaged/ **BOOK YOUR OWN CUSTOM ENGAGEMENT RING SERVICE WITH MYFLASHTRASH'S ENGAGEMENT RING DESIGNER CLARE FAULKNER**

Brad and Angelina are finally engaged! After hearing the news, the Flash Trash team have gone into Engagement fever as we anticipate what will literally be the most exciting A list wedding yet!

Chemistry: The pair met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith, which was released in 2005

THAT moment when the pair met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith...

Brad Pitt proposed with a gorgeous custom-made ring and we couldn't help but swooning about the romance of it all! There is something so much more special about a custom designed ring, adding a touch of sentimentality to the magic moment!

The designer of the stunning ring said:

"Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realised over a yearlong collaboration. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina's hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution."

Set to wed? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are said to be engaged, the actress seen here on Wednesday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art sporting an engagement ring on her wedding finger

How romantic! With side diamonds specially cut to encircle her finger and every diamond handpicked and of the highest quality... How can a girl say no?

Boys, you heard it here first! Custom-designed engagement rings are the quickest way to a girls heart! And now that Pitt has popped the question with this custom made treat, the trend is bound to skyrocket!

Every bride wants her engagement ring to be super-special, and there's nothing like a bespoke piece to make you feel like one in a million. So we think you (and your man) will love the new 'An Engagement Like No Other' service from jewellery designer Clare Faulkner.

Claure Faulkner rings for myflashtrash.com

The new service means choosing your ring in luxury: you'll have a glass of champagne on arrival at your one-to one meeting with Clare, before you and your husband-to-be chat about your fave colours, stones, settings and metals. Then Clare creates your perfect ring, and you treasure it for a lifetime! Simple.

ENGAGEMENT

So boys, if you like it... you better put a ring on it (and a custom made Clare Faulkner design while you're at it!)

For details, email jennifer@myflashtrash.com to book your own private appointment with Clare Faulkner.

Amber Atherton meets Julia Dias the lady behind these awesome creations!

MFT: So Julia tell us about Culietta!
J: Culietta is handmade jewellery made from vintage chain. Many of the pieces are versatile, My aim has always been to decorate parts of the body that have previously been unadorned! It comes from creating something around a beautiful piece of chain I’ve picked up, or a part of the body I’ve never seen decorated before, or that has been decorated in some lost way that I decide to dredge up and learn about.

MFT: So where is this jewellery best worn? What pieces suit where?
J: The beauty of it is that it it can be worn anywhere. The headpieces look really good with a festival outfit or for a wedding, and the hand arm and leg pieces are cool enough to be worn to the pub or a dinner. If I had my way I'd be at Coachella festival wearing a different piece every day!

MFT: Tell us about the material and the quality of each piece
J: Each piece is made from carefully selected vintage chain, I source the chain myself and each piece comes to life through the way the chain sits. Each piece is also handmade, a lot of time and care goes into constructing something comfortable wearable and that everyone will notice and enjoy!
MFT: What are your top style picks for Spring
J: Definitely the crucifix arm and leglet with a nice grungey dress for me. I'd wear it with a pair of Alexander Wang heels and a silver clutch.
MFT: Whats your favourite inspirational London Hang Out?
J: I really like to people watch! Its how I get my best ideas, for that London fields in the summer is great. Also whenever I feel like I need to get back in touch with the city I go for a wander along the themes and go to the Tate Modern, at night time the river reflects all the lights from the buildings, I love it!

<![CDATA[Mad Men: Steal Their Style]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/madmen/

Mad Men returned yesterday night.. and the fashion pack had their eyes fixated on the small screen to discover the fashion frenzy about to take place. As its characters left the early Sixties behind them, mini-skirts, psychedelic prints, monochrome ensembles and boxy shapes took the show’s leading ladies into 1966, where the show’s plot picked up from.

Don Draper's new wife Megan showcased a range of 1966 trends including monochrome ensembles, mini dresses and relaxed hair styles. It was a change from her past conservative looks. Very on trend right now, she spearheaded the pastels trend with gorgeous peppermint green and coral looks. Whilst Joan has stuck to her usual form-fitting look but a lower neckline provides new cleavage. Classical beautiful but only one thing missing... the Gold Drop Necklace! Don't you agree?

<![CDATA[buy jewelry online]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/buyjewelryonline/

buy jewelry online the advert screamed from the pages of my favourite glossy fashion magazine. 'Jewellery boutiques have sprung up everywhere online selling and on trend mix of one off pieces that are worth investing in' the article declared. So I got to thinking where do I buy most of my jewellery? Top Shop, Accessorize? The majority of which has broken or I've seen on every other girl on the high street. So with a defiant sense of authority I opened google chrome and plunged in. My first worry came when I found a ring that looked fantastic. Totally on trend it literally shouted at me from the pixelated screen 'TAKE ME NOW!' yes it had been worn by Rihanna, yes it was on the cover of this week's Grazia yes it was £259! Wow. I thought this was supposed to be a high street alternative! So I kept shopping, ah ha the 50 under £50 category! Yes now thats much more like it. Stumbled across a wonderful designer called Eastern Mystic which made mePalm Tree Charm Necklace think of the Taj Mahal and an Indian Summer of Love so the glam punk spike bracelets and cascade shard necklaces were just the icing on an already freshly baked cake. Anne Bowes came up next and from what I discerned was a vintage designer. All I could really discern that a palm tree pendant on a necklace is definitely the way to go. First item added to cart! On to Bracelets and hello what is this! Lei Van Kash. Why that sounds familiar oh yes only the most stylish girl in the world- Olivia Palermo is wearing practically every piece this season. Skull Bracelet on red cord I mean L.O.V.E. Suddenly my bank balance was reducing before my eyes. And you know what? I didn't care. Add to cart! Yes take that current account! I deserve this one of a kind bracelet, Made in England just for me! And with less than 20 minutes of being online I had been converted. Yes it may be pricer. But its totally worth it.

Buying Jewellery Online allows you to discover seriously cool talent before everyone else. Its cooler and worth the 5 day wait because trust me when it arrives, your face will light up in an overwhelming stylish smile of happiness at your new dreamy accessory that will willingly take any outfit from lame to in the game. So what are you waiting for? Ditch your high street jewellery chain and set your own style. And if you're wondering whatever happened to that ring? I bought it. I wore it out one weekend and it attracted the attention of a guy at the bar. Yes that is right ladies my ring started the conversation for me! And you know what it was TOTALLY worth it. Better go I'm on my way to my first date with bar man. He has a name but I won't reveal it just yet X X X O DARCY

Have you bought your Mother's Day Gift? Well we've got some ideas to help you! But who better to get tips from and talk about the unique relationship between a mother and daughter than one of our own jewellery designers? Trend savvy jewellery designer Anne Bowes and blogger du jour daughter Ella Catliff ( Ella La Petite) sit down for tea with Amber Atherton to talk Mother's Day plans which involve an unexpected appearance from Florence Welch..

Start Shopping Now HERE

Amber: Anne, Ella welcome to the My Flash Trash show room! Anne you have a lot of celebrity fans at the moment including Laura Whitmore and Sunday Girl Jade so theres a lot of buzz about your pieces at the moment! They are tipped to be the Celeb Mother's day gift of choice this year I hear!

Anne Bowes:
Yes, we have a wonderful fan base and its always lovely to see talented young girls in our one of a kind pieces! I'd be a happy mum if I received one! (giggles) Ella actually gave me the perfect tea pot set this Christmas. It really was the perfect gift - I adore vintage tea pots and tea cups.
Ella Catliff:
This year we are actually going to Paris to see Florence & the Machine together! So I think that slightly out does the tea pot!
Thats pretty cool. I'm not sure I'd take my mum to a gig in Paris! But I'm sure it will be a very chic affair! So for all of us looking for a little treat to show our mums we care tell us, why is jewellery such a great gift for Mothers Day??
E: Jewellery is a perfect gift. Its personal and just so nice to receive. You honestly can't go wrong with a pretty, vintage necklace as a present!
A: I used to give jewellery to my Mother, Ella often makes me jewellery and often vice versa. It's very sentimental.
What would you both say are your favourite pieces from your Anne Bowes Vintage Jewellery collection?
A: The Norwegian Heart necklace is divine!
E: Definitely Norwegian Heart!

How would you describe your style relationship?
E: I have been influenced by my mother greatly. I always steals clothes from her and I often pinch her shoes...
A: Without asking!
E: Its very lucky that her jewellery is exactly my kind of thing.

Yes its very charmingly English. Just the right mix of Eccentric and Romantic and I love that every piece is one of a kind, Anne how did you set about jewellery design?
A: The jewellery came a lot later, I was working as an illustrator and graphic designer. As I really got into it, it coincided with Ella's profile in the fashion industry.

So tell us about your favourite fashion memories together! Ella is it true your mum inspired you to start your blog?
A: When Ella started her blog and interned in Paris I came with her and we were reading an article over coffee about the american blogger Tavi and I said to Ella you should start a blog!
E: (laughs) and so I did! It works really well as my blog, La Petite Anglaise, is a very personal blog and it features well with my personal style which is quite girly.

Do you feel like the tables have turned, with Ella's ever growing profile in fashion?
A: Ella has been helping me so much, I often turn to her for advance and she inspires many of my pieces. I could definitely say she is my muse in many ways.
E: Interestingly though I was quite a tomboy in my early teens, so it is quite an unexpected turnaround!

Could you tell us about any particular pieces Ella has inspired you to create?
A: We love going ice skating together, and this mother-daughter activity inspired a little gold charm necklace with a darling ice skating charm. She also inspired the Bambi necklace. (Below)
What would you say you enjoy most about designing jewellery?
A: I love to mix modern and contemporary charms together. I often get comissions for pieces. I like to find something interesting and making it individual such as certain colours and things they respond to. It's so interesting seeing what people pick up on and respond to.
E: I really like the history behind it, as I think... Who would have owned this piece? Some of the charms have a strong historical context.

Show your mum how much you care this Mother's day with a beautiful one of a kind necklace. Please note there is only one of each necklace so to avoid disappointment please SHOP NOW

<![CDATA[Bel Ami Style steal]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/belami/

'Love on its own is not enough' the sultry George proclaims in Bel Ami, Guy de Maupassant's prolific novel of power's consumption of the soul. My love for this book was indeed enough to see me eagerly waiting first in line at a private screening of the film last night surrounded by a few adoring Robert Pattinson fans. And yes Rob is quite perfect to play the protagonist all sultry eyed and generally looking like he will ravage any female life form he sees. Which the first of 3 happen to be Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristen Scott Thomas. All immaculately coiffed and corseted yet still managing to retaini a parisian non-chalance namely through soft fairytale like hair and the most dainty of accessories.

For in Bel Ami it is the women who really run Paris, intelligent, dominating and persuasive, jewellery was delicate and character revealing. Fresh Water Pearls and Rubies, Brooches, Hair Pins and Lockets all surreptitiously revealed through a high neck blouse or delicately adorning a bare wrist. Taking inspiration from the women themselves, steal their style with pieces that reflect that character most like you but beware the charm of these pieces may be dangerously alluring.

Right on trend, Eastern Mystic’s bold yet classic jewellery influenced by the designer’s Indian heritage is the epitome of Karl’s vision. Statement necklaces like the Cascade Shard Necklace would complete any Chanel-chic look.

SD: Our style is relaxed, and i guess quite creative/swag, not very anglo at all, its all about the layers in england. Obviously.

MFT: Do you wear rings/necklaces/bracelets?

SD: Zachary wears rings, he loves rings. We all wear earrings. Higgy loves chains, gold ones, round his neck.

(Austin)- Alice at mft had an awesome necklace from Eastern Mystic, its got a Buddha on a long chain (I’ve borrowed it from her on a non- return basis)

MFT: What jewellery do you like seeing on girls?

SD: I like seeing necklaces on girls, I have a thing for collar bones so necklaces are a sweet compliment. Zachary loves the By Rogue Byron Double Ring, he would wear that.

When we have to ourselves up, we’d vote violet darkling for cufflinks, the owl skull ones especially, they’re original and appeal to us young musician types as most cufflinks elsewhere seem to be traditional for the older, more affluent gentleman”

<![CDATA[Violet Darkling Jewellery]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/violetdarkling/

Glamour, Tatler, Vogue and Wonderland to name but a few are just some examples of the prestigious press Violet Darkling has recieved over the years, gaining them celebrity fans such as Rihanna, Jessica Szohr and Bip Ling. My Flash Trash just had to have some.

The genius behind the beauty of Violet Darkling is Louisa Richwhite. Louisa derives her inspiration from "darkness" , her childhood in New Zealand and all things nocturnal, which is evident in her elegant yet eclectic designs; skulls and pink gems, wolves with saphires for eyes. Louisa bas said that she has a desire to make life just a little more magical, and there is no denying she has done just that!

Rihanna making her Violet Darkling ring the epitome of edge with her bold hair and extravagant clothing, though the beautiful thing about Violet Darkling is that the jewellery speaks for itself. No matter how plain an ensemble you sport, a dose of Violet Darkling will instantly add edge, glamour and unique charm. Whether it be a necklace, bracelet, ring or even a pair of cufflinks, VK simultaneously remains stylish yet avante garde, gorgeous yet gothic and elegant yet dark.

Violet Darkling is one of our favourite unisex designer jewellery brands, and definitely one of the most distinctive. Wolves, Foxes, Spiders and Skulls are all made delectably delicious once combined with the delicate details and beautiful gems.

Black Rhodium, Rose gold, gold, sterling silver, yellow gold, blue Topaz, Citrine, Amethyst, and Tourmaline are some of the ingredients Violet Darkling use to conjure up such a definitive collection of intriguingly unique pieces. Offering suave cufflinks for men, as well as some equally masculine necklaces and rings - we can definitely think of a famous few that would make a gold owl necklace on dark brown waxed leather string look incredibly enticing, especially if piled on with some spider pendants, the famous Fossa designs and silver skulls.

Buy now

It’s the juxtaposition that makes Violet Darkling so iconic, and their unique formula of gothic, glamour and modern style. The smooth, shiny, clean texture of the pieces lends itself a refreshingly modern aesthetic, as do the brightly coloured gems chosen to impose as eyes and bones for the delicate designs, though the fundamental foundations of the collections are primarily gothic, dark but beautiful. My Flash Trash have a feeling that the Brontë sisters would have loved to walk around the marshes flaunting the skull pendants, and wearing the Fossa ring while writing their next gothic installment of novels.

Though we’d prefer to wear them with a black dress to an event, or to make our jeans and jumper combination a little bit more exciting. Whether you need to dress up a day to day ensemble, or get the finishing touch for that red carpet worthy dress, Violet Darkling is at your service with. Their pieces are the perfect conversation the starter, the perfect eye catcher, the instant style updater. So, what will it be for you? A skull with a bow on a ring, or a wolf with purple eyes on a necklace? Get shopping.

Olivia Palermo Jewellery

Here the beautiful Olivia Palermo is pictured wearing LeiVanKash's turquoise feather bracelet, which the designer herself says is her favourite and most sentimental peice she has designed. Elegant, sophisticated yet unconventional; three things we love about Olivia, and three things we love about LeiVanKash; a match made in heaven. Clearly a lover of a genuinely good find, rather than an expensive elite price tag. This is an aspect that over at the MFT head quarters we feel we have in common with the blogging beauty: We never hesitate to pair our trinkets from Fash Pack favourite designer Lei Van Kash! When you mix brands and prices, that's when true style is revealed. Concentrate on what you like, and why you like it, rather than how much it is and who else is wearing it.

<![CDATA[City Brewed Blogger Chat]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/citybrewedbloggerchat/

Over at the My Flash Trash head quarters we have
been stalking www.citybrewed.com for quite some time, and couldn't resist the oppurtunity to have a quick chat with Ellie Eckert, the blogger herself!

Hi Ellie! So, what would you say is your favourite aspect of blogging?

My favorite part of fashion blogging would have to be the creative aspect of it. I love photographing and sharing things that inspire me with others. It’s amazing to have the ability to connect with people from all over the world who share the same interests!

What has been your favourite look of Fashion Week so far?

My favorite looks were definitely from the Nicholas K collection. I absolutely love how every piece had a very effortless vibe with basic shades. Neutral colors are usually my go to--I’m pretty laid back.

What are you wearing now?

On days like today when I don’t have classes or my internship, I tend to keep my outfit comfortable but cute. I’m wearing a pair of vintage trouser pants with an oversized cable knit sweater(from TopShop) and Nine West Martina pumps.

What you be your ultimate fashion wish?

Ultimately, I would love to write for a magazine like Nylon or Foam. I can’t get enough of the raw beauty in their photographs and the amazing styling in both of the publications.

And finally... Which is your favourite item on www.myflashtrash.com?

I absolutely love the Monster Ring by Philippe Cramer. I’m always drawn to dainty, beautiful pieces of jewelry, and this is something I would wear in a heartbeat.

The red carpet has been rolled out yet again, and we're here to show you it's compulsory companion's (the jewels) best bits from the Brits.

Despite all the amazing acts, i.e Florence and her unstoppable Machines, we were most in awe of the young lady causing such a stir these days - Lana Del Rey. We put all the rumours and allegations to one side just to stop and stare at her flawless ensemble, not many people can stand out that distinctively in a red dress on a red carpet. We now obviously need some red in our life! We've picked our best scarlet jewels for you, and we think Lana herself would definitely approve.

<![CDATA[The Woman in Violet Darkling]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/thewomaninvioletdarkling/

We hid behind our programmes during the theatre performance of The Woman in Black last year, and we hid behind our popcorn during the cinema showing of The Woman in Black today. Though, have we managed to find some unlikely style inspiration?

Creepy, gloomy, irredeemably tense and... Stylish? The film may have made us scream (a few times), but what we managed to see through very very squinted and sheilded eyes was a beautifully designed set, an amazing display of cinematography and an abundance of gothic influences. We're also ecstatic to see Daniel Radcliffe without a broom stick, and instead showing off some serious thespian skills rather than magic tricks.

We've picked some jewels that we think the Woman in Black herself would approve of. We're not saying you should roam around haunted houses and walk into marshes, but perhaps channel your inner goth a little. A Violet Darkling ring, or two, should do the trick.

<![CDATA[NYFW Round Up]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/nyfwroundup/

It saddens us to say that New York Fashion Week ended as quick as it started... Though it excites us to say hello to London Fashion Week! Before we get all patriotic and proud, here's a round up of NYFW.

Needless to say, the Olsens are having a moment. Not only has Elizabeth Olsen found fame via some incredible indie credentials, her sister's (Mary-Kate and Ashley... You may have heard of them) brand is also receiving great reviews too! Did you ever wonder why there was a twin sized gap from your screens for the past few years? Well, it's simply because they've been harbouring a different talent. A stylish one at that.

The Elizabeth and James show was beautifully elegant and rather suave, and featured a trend we've spotted consistently throughout the shows: suits. See below for more trousery goodness from Nanette Lepore and Ralph Lauren.

Not only do we love the pefectly tailored array of velvet, silk and leather that was the Ralph Lauren show, we also (predictably so) spotted those jewels! Though, how could you not? Thankfully, we needn't look any further than our own treasure chest to achieve thise look! We'll be sure to be wearing some serious jewels during London Fashion Week!

<![CDATA[BAFTA Beauties]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/baftabeauties/

The award season is in full swing, and My Flash Trash's ever present patriotism was put to good use last night while swooning over every aspect of the BAFTA's.

The men were dapper with George Clooney and Brad Pitt looking particularly suave (and warm) in their coats on the red carpet, and each and every single woman simply shone. Meryl Streep was as humble and understated as ever, Michelle Williams wore - wait for it - a H&M dress, and Miss Piggy even made an appearance. Who's style would you steal? Here are our favourite looks from the night!

Trend Spotted: Chokers

We love, love, love this trend. Putting an edge into elegance; chokers are the perfect way to stay simple and modern but simultaneously look irredeemably fashion forward! If even Miss Piggy can pull if off (no offence, Miss P) we're certain you can.

Adele was radiant, particularly due to those stunning studs on her ears! Clean cut silhouttes and statement pieces were prodominately present at the Grammys, and we aprove completely. Here are a few of our favourites:

<![CDATA[New York Fashion Week Continued]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/newyorkfashionweekcontinued/ Creatures of the Wind fall 2012. Definitely one of the most interesting shows we've seen so far! Roll on NYFW. The inspiration that designers Chris Peters and Shane Gabier said to have been derived from a seventeenth century book titled The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns, and Fairies is evident in the surreal and vivid peices. Would you wear these off the runway? There's something about that gold, mid length and perfectly structured skirt that we particularly love.

Speaking of "Creatures of the Wind"... We think our frog ring by Patrica Nicolas for £205 is the perfect match for this collection! Fantasy fashion at it's best.

<![CDATA[New York Fashion Week, hello!]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/newyorkfashionweek/

Excitement filled the office! "Ooh!" and "Ahh!" were the only sounds heard. Last minute flights to New York were even booked... Now, that's dedication. We can't wait for the rest of New York Fashion Week to unravel!

The first show we lustfully stalked was the beautiful BCBG Max Azria's, and we have nothing but love for the entire collection. Fresh, simple, elegant - effortlessly so. It even had a subtle hint of sports style, bringing street style to the runway, and executing it excellently.

The only thing we would say is, where are all the statement pieces of jewellery that those amazing dresses are begging for?! My Flash Trash have a few in mind that would compliment these garments ever so well... Click the images to get the look!

<![CDATA[Miami Style Steal]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/miamijewellery/

'Miami Beach is where neon goes to die' once said Lenny Bruce. A hedonistic pastel playground with naughty neon edges, this town is filled with cheeky modern art and a soundtrack of electro-cuban beats. My Flash Trash stayed at the wonderus Delano hotel which felt like falling down an expensive rabbit hole, where the rooms took inspiration from a mental asylum but replaced insanity and confinement with luxury and eccentricity. An apple sat on a metal ledge on the wall reading 'an apple a day keep the doctor away' a tiny metal angel hung on to the top right of the ceiling whilst a quilted bar filled with rum whispered to you from the corner.

Physcadellic and beautiful we felt like we were stars in the Boogie Nights Sequel venturing to Vesper for Dinner and onto LIV to dance the night away. The smell of Pancakes enveloped the heavy humid air in the morning and drew up down to the trendy Lincoln Road to hunt for vintage treasures in the antique market and dabble in the string of fashionable galleries.

The launch of our brand new Engagement page and new designer Clare Faulkner was the perfect excuse to have a lovely breakfast in Soho House this morning. Joining us were some amazing members of press, and beautiful models such as Portia Freeman and Morwenna Lytton-Cobbold.

It was a particularly romantic morning: rose petals scattered across the table, an abudance of engagement rings to gaze at and even an up and coming model, David Nutley, pretending to propose to members of the press! It's definitely getting us in the mood for Valentines day - or perhaps just the mood to buy some serious jewels for our fingers...

What better way to spend a cold Tuesday morning than staring at bespoke engagement rings?!

We welcomed our new designer, Clare Faulkner, at My Flash Trash by hosting a beautiful breakfast at Soho House, to talk all things diamond. Clare provides a one to one service that not only allows you to discuss in length the design of your dream ring, but a glass of champagne to go with!

To the event Clare brought a beautiful selection of rings, of which members of press tried on between breakfast and manicures. Each ring is an individual work of art! Take a look at some of the designs, to inspire your own possibilities...

<![CDATA[Style stealing from the Screen Actors Guild Awards ]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/screenactorsguild/

Family Jewels

Another red carpet event! Another evening of watching E! to envy the dresses, jewellery and talent. The cast of Modern Family pulled out all the stops for the Screen Actors Guild awards yesterday and looked distinctively more glamrous than their on screen characters with jewel tone dresses and statement accessories.

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa was particulary stunning, we love the clashing jewellery. The colours reminded us of Gripoix's cuff from My Flash Trash for £603. Though Julie Bowen kept it nice and simple with her diamond studs, with her on screen daughter Sarah Hyland looking equally as elegant. You can easily achieve that modern Hollywood look with our VSL diamond studs for £58.

<![CDATA[More from the NTAs]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/nta2/ One of the aspects that we love most about award shows is stalking the red carpet; and stalk we did! We spotted some amazing ensembles, some more bizarre than the others... Though we were definitely pleased with the jewels, gems, and stones on display.

Clearly, cuffs are having a moment. Holly Willoughby looked elegent with her pendant and detailed cuff complimenting her beautiful black dress, whereas Tess Daly looked futeristic with her modern, clean cut choice of dress and jewellery. Our personal favourite way to wear a cuff goes to the latest face of television presenting; Zoe Hardman. Two simple cuffs and a very envy inspiring cocktail ring compliments her bold dress ever so effortlessly.

We're predicting big things for big cuffs this season, especially if the red carpet is anything to go buy. If you want to get this simple yet glamorous look, check out our selection of bracelets on www.myflashtrash.com as we have plenty of bold beauties such as our Isla cuff for £155 http://www.myflashtrash.com/bracelets-1/isla-cuff.html, our Tila cuff by VSL for £310 http://www.myflashtrash.com/bracelets-1/tila-cuff.html or the Wing Paris Breeze Khaki bangle for £68 http://www.myflashtrash.com/bracelets-1/breeze-khaki-bangle.html. <![CDATA[The National Television Awards]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/nta/ There’s not much that we love more than to watch a good old awards show! Award ceremony season is here, and one of the first is the National Television Awards. More of a guilty pleasure than anything, NTA lets us recap on all the Soaps’ drama and the reality shows’ embarrassing moments.

However, that doesn’t mean that there’s a lack of glamour; especially when Elle Macpherson is amongst the audience.

Though, the real award goes to biggest makeover of the year: Shona McGarty. Far from Whitney from Eastenders, she looked elegant and understated. We also loved her earrings, which reminded usof our Edie Earrings by 8.L.A. She made us proud with her beautiful choice of jewellery - look at that ring! If you love the cocktail style, try our Glow ring.

<![CDATA[Men's Fashion Week - From Batman to Prada]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/mfw/ The list of shows is extensive, impressive and inspirational for menswear this year, and MFW isn’t even over yet. Never before have us girls been so jealous of clothes designed for men! Balmain epitomised the London look, whereas designers like Phillip Lim and Louis Vuitton embraced the colour blocking and colour popping. We think our Tomasz Donocik bracelet below, for £435 compliment's Louis Vuitoon's colour scheme perfectly.

However, the show to stick out to us most was definitely the Prada show. Not only were the set designs stunning, the suits suave and the theme amazing, but a few familiar (yet peculiar given the context) faces popped up as well; Enter Gary Oldman, Jamie Bell and Adrien Brody who strutted, strolled and struck a pose down the runway.

The Prada show was crazily beautiful. We watched in awe at the My Flash Trash headquarters, and realised how similar some of Prada’s silver accessories on the runway were similar to ours on the website! Below are photos of the Prada show, with plenty of metal; then My Flash Trash items; bracelet and necklace both by Tomasz Donocik. We've also got an amamazing pin by Emilie Morris for £188 to attached to your lapel a la Prada. To finish off the look we've got Onyx Horsehead cufflinks by Tomasz Donocik for £315 and a gold skull necklace by Julia Burness for £50.

<![CDATA[The V&A Way]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/exhibition/ As we’re only a short train ride away from South Kensington, it would be rude not to pop into the Victoria and Albert’s current exhibition on post modernism, wouldn’t it?

The alternative yet ever so aesthetically pleasing archive of the artistic movement made for a very, very interesting exhibition. “Postmodern style had many different faces; colourful and ruinous, ludicrous and luxurious” read the fluorescent orange sign on the entrance. After adoring the Grace Jones statue, being freaked out by the Boy George hologram and eyeing up the Gijs Bakker jewellery; we came to the end of our juxtaposition of a journey.

Not only do we clearly love jewellery here at My Flash Trash, but we also love art. So what could be better than when the two are combined? We couldn’t help but be reminded of some of our pieces during the exhibition…

Patricia Nicolas’s Acid Wash Bracelet, £152, is very reminiscent of the bold artwork. The contrast of colour and size, delicate and strong were also key features in the movement of Post Modernism. To find your very own piece of art, visit www.myflashtrash.com

We all know the story of Beauty and the Beast, but the MyFlashTrash girls are enamoured by this earlier version, ‘La Belle et la Bete’ from 1946. Less talking teacups a la Disney, and more eerily dark beauty that is so captivating. Then again, we may be slightly biased as the jewellery label which adorned Belle’s dresses of folded silk, Gripoix, is launching on MyFlashTrash this Thursday! Gripoix worked extensively with Chanel during the 1920s and 1930s, so we are very excited to bring a touch of Parisienne glamour to the site (and your jewellery boxes!)

<![CDATA[Amber Atherton for Patricia Nicolas]]> http://www.myflashtrash.com/blog/amber-atherton-for-patricia-nicolas/ Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
